Summary/Abstract: The article concerns a history of the Catholic University of Lublin in the PRL’s times. The author cites a number of archival materials, collected by the Home Office, which are preserved in the Institute of National Remembrance, which show how the struggle against the KUL looked like, what plans for its closure were, and to what means the national authorities did resort for through institutions operating openly, like the Ministry of Science, or those acting secretly, like UB or SB. That material is very interesting because at the same time it shows how KUL defended itself. The author analyzes the various threads of that fight, although not all of them, but those very meaningful. Among many means, which were meant to lead to a collapse of the KUL, he analyzes precisely three: tax strategy, elimination of university faculties, and blocking scientific nominations.
