THE CATALOGUE OF DOCUMENTS ISSUED BY RADU LEON IN THE COLLECTIONS OF THE BUCHAREST CITY MUSEUM

Summary/Abstract: The collections of the Bucharest City Museum contain only 39 documents written on paper issued from the chancery of Radu Leon (ante 1664 December 2 - 1669 March 3). Most of them are sale contracts for various estates, inherited land or mill streams, belonging to individuals or monasteries, such as Sadova monastery, Mihai-Vod􀄃 monastery or St. Ecaterina monastery. One documents was issued by jude􀄠 Gherghina, member of the Bucharest magistrate, who together with the 12 burghers (pârgari) confirmed ownership over a house in town. The documents bears the seal stamp in soot of seventeenth-century Bucharest, depicting the Annunciation.
