Summary/Abstract: Petru Popescu is a popular novelist, whose work is a mixture of literary and popular elements. It must be very well understood the nature of popular fiction. For this, we proposed the method of genre negotiation, which is dealing with the process of writing and reception of genre fiction. In this study, we will explain how the negotiation genre works in analysing Popescu’s popular fictions in the large context of entertainment industry. Popescu’s work is a very good illustration of popular fiction. Among the best examples of the genre, the edition of The Burial of The Vine provoked an interesting debate in Romanian critics. For its understanding, we have in view the argument for the necessity of eliminating the repudiation of popular fiction.
