Border regions as peripheral territories on the example of eastern and western borderland

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the results of research on development in the border regions in the years 2004–2008. To show the diversity of regional development, Human Development Index (HDI) was used. The level of development was evaluated based on 7 indexes. The results show considerable disproportions in the development along the western and eastern borders of Poland.
