The small cross-border movement as an element of the cross-border co-operation

Summary/Abstract: The border regions, for years treated as peripheral and declining, are currently becoming areas of a more and more robust economic growth. This does not, however, apply to each and every border region. Cross-border location, communication routes and proximity of foreign markets do not always constitute factors of accelerated development. Small border movement is an important factor of cross-border co-operation. The article presents the chosen results of investigations, led on the Polish-German and Polish–Russian borderland. Small border movement is an important factor favourable for the development of trans-border contacts. The development of border movement and border trade is an important element of these contacts.
