Summary/Abstract: The text outlines the impact of Dickens’s works on the reading public throughout the world. Among other reasons, creating this impact, the English author’s humanism is given a special focus. The article comments on some impressions of 19th century American readers of Dickens, expressed in their letters and diaries.
