The social and legal situation of Muslim women in Islam in the context of marriage and family

Summary/Abstract: The article presents issues related to the socio-legal status of women in the tradition of contemporary Islam. In Islamic countries, due to a very strong influence of religion and tradition, the problem of the position and role of women in Muslim society should be considered through the prism of religious and moral precepts of Islam, family law and Islamic tradition, relating to various aspects of family life. These three research planes cannot be clearly distinguished, because each of them is part of the cultural synthesis. The authors discuss some chosen aspects of a Muslim woman's life in the field of family law, that is marriage and family.
