Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the role of United States policy and specifically the policies of President Woodrow Wilson, Secretary of State Robert Lansing, and the Director of the American Relief Agency Herbert Hoover, in the establishment of the Baltic States at the end of the First World War. Although not directly involved in the political developments inside the Baltic States, the impact of the United States, as the new rising world power on European events was important and crucial.
