Summary/Abstract: The psychologists, sociologists, theologians, analysts of the contemporary family talk about a real ”crisis” of the family, meaning that the family has lost the traditional significance of ”basic cell” and ”cradle of civilisation”. Nowadays people talk about the liberalisation of premarital relationships, about a new sexual order or, better, as some authors called it ”a new amorous disorder” having as a base the experimentation of new forms of sexuality and cohabitation, sometimes deviated or pathological. It is estimated that the number of families that divorce will become higher than of those broken by death. It is also alarming the decrease of the number of children who are born, because the dramatic increase of the number of abortions, doubled by the diversification and spreading of contraception, a hindrouce not only from giving birth to a child but also from life itself, the supreme gift. In spite of such opinions, the Orthodox Spirituality shows great honour appreciation to the Christian family, considering that beyond the more and more powerful temptations which try to undermine its existence and relativize its moral reasons, the relationships between man and woman, based on mutual love and having the blessing of God, throurh the Holy Marriage, the oldest institution in the life of mankind - the family - will last for ever, because it responds to the human vocation of communion in love and religious accomplishment as there will always be noble souls that will want to be connected to each orther through the ”holy chain of marriage” san in the bosom of this blessed from of living to contribute mutually to their absolution.
