ATTEMPT OF ESTABLISHING FRENCH LEGATION IN CETINJE IN 1807/1808

Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the attempt of establishing a French Legation in Ceti¬nje between 1807 and 1808. It analyzes the position of Montenegro in the context of international relations of the Napoleon era, and the reasons which prevented the establishment of such diplomatic representation in Cetinje. The author attributes the reasons for the failure to establish the legation to hi¬storical circumstances, from the aspect of both foreign and internal policy.
