Summary/Abstract: The end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 marked a significant geopolitical turning point. The Ukrainian state with a population over 50 million, an area larger than France and considerable economic potential became a significant power factor in Europe. In Slovakia a publication with a comprehensive grasp of the subject of the Ukraine has been lacking so far. The book Ukraine and Slovakia, published by SAV Press in 2000, filled this gap.
