Summary/Abstract: The study points out some important aspects characteristic for the liberty of the Romanian media in a particular context. We are facing unstable criteria which lie at the basis of defining the liberty of the press in a troubled country, characterized by a perpetual state of transition. The lack of political cohesion, the economic crisis, the chaotic legislation creates a peculiar, uncertain climate, unfit for the usage of clear liberty principles.
