Romanians in Italy, between identity and alterity

Summary/Abstract: This study presents a survey of the situation of Romanians abroad, focusing on local immigrants in Italy. The research takes into account the period of the past 20 years and investigates the reasons which made Romanian leave for Peninsula, the degree of adaptation and it tries to find an answer to the question whether younger generations leaving the country, are concerned to preserve the values and traditions or they are eager to assimilate massively those of the host population. The identity problem arises in an acute way in an international context, where it is aimed to the fluidization of the integrative contact of the Romanian members with other nations.
