Summary/Abstract: We live in a world which transform the whole society with speeds that were never have been seen before. In this context the concept of identity evolves and takes new shapes. This paper aims to present different approaches of the concept of identity which can be found in classical in modern theories regarding the relation between the individual and society. Another part of the paper describe in which way the individual, the group and the society interact and change each other. Also, this paper aims to find the answer to questions like: what is the role of identity in social construction and how important it is for individuals to belong to a collective group?
