POPULATION DYNAMICS IN COVASNA, HARGHITA AND MUREŞ COUNTIES BETWEEN 1990 – 2010

Summary/Abstract: The study presents the population dynamics in Covasna, Harghita and Mureş Counties between 1990-2010. In this sense certain factors, involved in this process, were analyzed, respectively birthrate, mortality, the rate of natural increase and the migratory movement. As far as birthrate and mortality are concerned, these two factors had an oscillatory development, but by taking on different directions of evolution, respectively, a regressive tendency in the case of birthrate and an increase in the case of mortality. As a result to this situation, the rate of natural increase recorded negative values during the entire period, in Covasna and Harghita Counties and in proportion of 72%, of this period of time, in Mureş County. The indicator of the net migration was recorded with negative values, in proportion of 100% in Covasna and Harghita Counties and in proportion of 28% in Mureş County. As a consequence to the evolution of the above mentioned indicators in all three counties, the population size decreased, respectively with 10,6% in Harghita, 6,6% in Mureş and 6,2% in Covasna.
