ISSUES ON THE LABOR RESOURCES IN CLUJ COUNTY

Summary/Abstract: The study deals with the population of Cluj County as it concerns labor force. Therefore, the study analyzes age and sex structure of the population, economically active population, employed population and economically inactive population, along with their representation within urban and rural areas. Economically active population was also studied within the frame of the three economic sectors and their specific activities. Following the analyses carried out, the conclusions that resulted emphasize the fact that the population of Cluj county, as a whole, and particularly economically active population in the county, experiences a process of demographic ageing, with an increased value in the rural areas. Therefore, the highest economic pressure on economically active population is put by the elderly population group, part of the economically inactive population subgroup. In order to emphasize the degree of replacement of the economically active population, that becomes economically inactive year after year, labor force renewal ratio was calculated. Its values show that the renewal process of the labor force is covered at county level and in the urban areas, even slightly more than the labor force demands, yet rural areas are characterized by values that will bring on deficits in labor force.
