Banking sector in the Second Republic of Poland

Summary/Abstract: This article describes functioning of banking sector in pre-war Poland. Next to numerous private banks there were also state-owned banks, having greater public confidence. The condition of the banks depended on the fluctuations and financial policy carried out by the government. Taking this into account, interwar period can be divided into several periods in which the activities of banks are shaped differently. Large employment of this sector was a characteristic feature.
