Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the problem of information asymmetry at the level of relations between an insurance institution and a client (information stakeholder) divided into two perspectives: when an insurance company has information advantage and when a client enjoys it. The study focuses on possibilities for mitigating major negative consequences of asymmetry, such as: moral hazard, adverse selection of risks and costly verification of the actual situation. Such activities consist in expanding access to information, facilitate its full implementation and help in minimizing the effects, which results in the fact that transactions are not cancelled by the party which feels insufficiently informed. An extension of symmetrical access to information influences market efficiency and results in the situation when market mechanism is capable of managing the existing resources in a more effective manner.
