Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the covers of the cassettes with the so called popfolk music. But its main emphasis is on one question: Why are the front covers usually photos of the performers? The answer has been searched in the inclusive interviews with five presidents of companies producing popfolk cassettes. It is claimed as а conclusion that the faces of the performers printed on the cassette covers present the recorded music to the consumer more convincingly than any other images. The reason is in the fact that the photographic portrait denotes, assigning the presented performer to а real person (а singer or an instrumentalist) and thus brings more vividness to the offered music.
