Summary/Abstract: The research problem is described with the help of the problematic questions: o What determines the humanization of the educational quality of the university and what are the criteria that are used to evaluate it? o How the competences of the teacher and the evaluation of the content of the subject help to highlight the transformation of the educational paradigm and the necessity of the quality factor? The aims of the research o To find out what determines the quality if the university education in the context of the educational paradigm. o To highlight the opinion of the students about the teacher‘s competence and the motivation of studying at the university. o To evaluate the improvement directions of the process of the study in order to achieve the effectiveness of students‘ learning. The research object – quality of the teaching as a precondition of the students’ opinion aspect. The research sample and time: the type of the sample choice – suited non- probability sample. In April 2007 the students of the Social studies, Economy program of Šiauliai University took part in the poll. The data was analyzed in July–August 2007.
