Summary/Abstract: Cengiz Aytmatov has a very autstanding place among the authors of the Turkic world in attaining the universal from the national. Anumber of elements derived from the folkloric culture might be seen in his works. His works are predominantly based upon Kirghiz tradition and the Manas Epic. Aytmatov, constructing the future through the past, carries his work to auniversal dimension dealing skillfully with the issues pertaining to both the folkloric elements and humanity.
