Summary/Abstract: The work deals with the problem of the authorship of "Żywot świętego Benedykta", one of the frame texts in the edition of "Reguła benedyktyńska", translated into Polish by Sebastian Fabian Klonowic. "Żywot świętego Benedykta", fulfilling the role of a biogram in the edition from 1597, has so far been considered by bibliographers and researchers as Acern’s translatory work Yet, comparing the text with St Benedict’s biography constituting "Żywoty święte" reveals the reel author, i.e. the author of "Kazania sejmowe". A reprint of the fragment of a hagiographic book in the edition of "Reguła benedyktyńska" without its author’s name should be treated as one more illustration of a free aaproach to the issue of authorship in the Old-Polish language.
