PECULIARITIES OF THE MOTIVE ABOUT THE DRAGON AND DRAGON-FIGHTING IN THE EASTERN RUPCHOS, MIDDLE RHODOPES

Summary/Abstract: This text presents the results of the ethnological field studies of ‘Ongal’ Association in the Middle Rhodopes – village of Yugovo, as well as in the neighborhood of Braykovica in the town of Laki, performed between 1997 and 2006. A numerous records of authentic prosaic texts on the subject “Folklore-mythological notions and beliefs about the dragon and dragon-fighting in the eastern villages from the region of Rupchos” stay in focus. The chronotope of the action, the results of the conflict and the attributes of the participators in the dragon-fighting are emphasized.
