Summary/Abstract: The following study intends to look Machar’s polemical article about Vítězslav Hálek in the context of modernism, where what is perceived as aesthetic categories of modern, already does not define against the old, the previous, but the so-called classical. Daniel Vojtěch’s analysis of individualism as one of the cornerstones of modern leading to the conclusion that the crisis of the entity is essentially also the crisis of the concept itself and that the requirement is not just a personality confl ict between the individual and pressure of the environment, but also struggle with the „dissolution of self“. Machar through his iconoclasm demonstrates just one of the possibilities of that match. Attack on the so-called classical destroys one type of subjective imaging (Hálek), consistent with the tendency to wording process can be seen as a preparatory process for the subsequent re-construction of subjectivity.
