Summary/Abstract: Our categories of thought, the way we talk, our experiences and emotions, and what we express and do are primarily determined by the culture in which we live. First, we will try to focus on the difference between emotions and feelings from philosophical, anthropological, psychological and linguistic points of view. While the concept of “feeling” is universal and can be safely used in the investigation of human experience and human nature, the concept of “emotion” is non universal but is culture-bound. Then, we will explain the universality of the concept of “joy”. Finally, we will show that the concept of “joy” is linked with a cognitive scenario.
