Summary/Abstract: The study deals with the piano cycle Miniatures (1945) by D. Nenov. It is interesting from the point of view of the composer’s interpretation of the genre and subject as well as the piano performance. Two important achievements in its interpretation are examined by the famous Bulgarian musicians Ljuba Encheva and Mario Angelov as representatives if two different generations of pianists. Through different methods (for example, comparative and analytical) and with the personal professional experience of the author as a performer of the piano cycle she turns our attention to the high dynamics and intensity of sound in the small form as well as of the brightness and clarity of the images – characteristics that provoke us to look for similar ties with chamber music. The study attempts to answer the questions as to what differentiates the two generation (and gender) interpretations of one of Nenov’s late opuses and what is that in his musical impressions that provokes them, what is the ties between the notion of the author about the work and the sound music result.
