Summary/Abstract: After the breakaway from Stalin, Yugoslav communist regime employed Stalinist measures in fighting its enemies. Repression amounted to a hysterical which hunts. Various local, national and personal conflicts were built into this repressive system of lies and intrigues. Such legal and political despotism, which was based on the loyalty to Tito and the Party, favored collectivist ideology in the socialist country independent from Moscow. Tito's admirers labeled this system "national communism" or "protestant" Stalinism, revealing its main function - erosion of the Soviet sphere of influence. Therefore, regardless of the paternalistic system of self-management, Titoism cannot be seen as a new ideology. Despite its "Protestantism", it did not step out of the realm of Stalinists police state and systemic disintegration of society.
