Summary/Abstract: The central question of Feenberg’s theory is how to control the directions and effects of the scientific and technological processes that substantially alter our society. His article discusses the democratic possibilities of the technological systems. He argues that these systems are not value-neutral, that is, they delineate a political space. His article addresses the question of the possibilities of changing the structures and mechanisms of technological systems according to more democratic principles. In his opinion users of a given system are able to change their fixed position within the system and open up a space for manoeuvring, that would allow the reformation of the system.
