Summary/Abstract: The author attempts to introduce the theoretical core of the approach called ‘Science, Technology and Society’. Accordingly, the article touches upon four main dimensions of this interdisciplinary field, that is, ‘constructivism, contextuality, problematization and democratisation’. The main argument follows the line of these concepts introducing each by elaborating a related school of thought respectively. These schools are Social Construction of Technology (SCOT), Actor-Network-Theory (ANT), Feminism/Cyborg Theory and Critical Theory of Technology. This introductory article, therefore, aims to put the articles edited into the ‘Technology and Society’ block into context.
