Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the study of phraseological fund of novels written by Polish writers Ignacy Karpowicz, Sławomir Shuty, Joanna Fabicka and Izabela Sowa. An amount of canonical uses exhibiting no changes in the form and meaning as defined by the norm of Standard Polish and innovative uses is found out. Phraseological units are often used by authors in their works to produce a comic (including ironic and sarcastic) effect. Phraseological innovations are classified into phraseological modifications (phraseological units with changes in their lexical structure) and so called context innovations based on using phraseological units in non-typical context. The frequency of phraseological innovations usage is established.
