Summary/Abstract: In the article problems of material environment (material culture) are discussed. The conception of design, the essence of its creation, objects and subjects of the activity are described. The importance of harmony on the main principles of design creation are emphasized. Factors influencing the process of creation are analy-sed. Peculiarities of creation process, methods of creation and designing and preparation of design documen-tation are discussed.
