Vasile Aaron in Defense of the Romanian Language: its Nature and Beauty

Summary/Abstract: The paper aims to linguistically exploit the preface (Cătră cetitori) of a less-known poem to Romanian language researchers, namely Reporta din vis, written by Vasile Aaron at the beginning of the 19th century, when the concepts put forward by the leading personalities of the Şcoala Ardeleană prevailed in the conscience of Ardeal scholars. Although literary historians have previously studied this text, its linguistic ideas were less approached in Romanian linguistics articles. Our analysis has revealed the beauty of the Romanian language as well as that of other European languages.
