Summary/Abstract: The meat industry is one of the most important divisions of the Polish food industry. It employs more than 110 thousand people, and the value of marketed production in 2012 amounted to about 55 billion PLN, which accounted for approximately 27% of the value of sold production of the whole food industry (including tobacco). In terms of sold value production in 2011, we took 4th place among EU countries (after Germany, France and Spain). Before joining the European Union, the meat industry in Poland was considered a sensitive sector and was covered by transitory period. Over the 10 years of Polish membership in the Community, the number of companies with the privileges of meat export to the EU market has increased19-fold (from 101 to 1920). Performance and technical rigging processing plants have improved and concentration of production has increased. The economic structure of the industry is still very fragmented.
