Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study was to analyze trends of changes in the milk and pigs production in the period of Polish membership in the EU. The study covering a period of 2000-2012, analysed the changes: population and stock density, the structure of farming scale and the indicators of livestock production, i.e. production of cow’s milk and slaughter pigs. In the analyzed period the population of dairy cows decreased at an annualized rate of about 42 thousand heads, while there was an increase in milk yield of cows by 2.2 % per year. During this time, the number of holdings with cows decreased by 63%. The undisputed leader in the milk production is the Podlasie Voivodeship. Since 2007 a reversal of the upward trend of livestock fattening has been observed in pig production. Consequently the process of concentration and specialization, the number of holdings with pigs in 12 years decreased by 70% to 260 thousand farms in 2012 year. The largest number of pigs (over 25 LU/100 ha AL) in 2010-2012 was in the Wielkopolska Voivodeship.
