Summary/Abstract: This article examines the cinematographic strategies of imagination in Carlos Reygadas’ films. Departing from the idea of de-subjectified and emancipated im- agination, it aims to explore special technological and artistic strategies employed by the Mexican film director. Reygadas considers imagination both as a means of intensifying sensations in the creative process and as a re-distribution of the sensible through dissensus in the experience of his films. By combining various theoretical approaches, including Pietro Montani, Jacques Rancière and Gilles De- leuze, the present article analyses Reygadas’ “Post Tenebras Lux” by relating the field of imagination with the field of the sensible, as well as exploring the relation between imagination and temporality and imagination and otherness. This film is characterised by a structure of intermedial imagination and a performative char- acter through which the virtualisation of reality is exercised and the access to the pure form of time is granted.
