Summary/Abstract: As a product of scientific, (inter)professional team work, the socio-pedagogic working model is a professional and humane activity that helps the user and instructs him how to realise his fundamental rights and to be a full participant in the society. Social-pedagogic work implies cooperation with various institutions working with handicapped children in the local community and promoting cooperation on the protection of children’s interests. The welfare centre primarily cares for the position of children in the family, at school and in all other situations of their life. This working model is directed to the cooperation at school and contributes to the improvement of the working conditions for every pupil and maximally provides for and promotes the teaching process. This cooperation in the local community has the same target: user, pupil – child. This work will present the results of the socio-pedagogic cooperation for the protection of intellectually handicapped children in the local community from the aspect of the employees of the Welfare Centre in the context of the current social picture of these children and their families.
