Summary/Abstract: Self-assessment of interpreting students: what means to what ends? Taking as a standpoint several theoretical concepts that are crucial in interpreter training, such as deliberate practice, acquisition of expertise, metacognitive tools, this article seeks to explore the best means to enhance student self-awareness and increase learning efficiency through the development of self-assessment skills. In doing so, we refer extensively to a long term project on self-assessment launched in 2007 and ongoing by which we analyze the students’ response to various forms of self-reporting.
