Summary/Abstract: A live action role-playing game, or larp, is a form of role-playing game in which players act out their characters’ actions in a physical space chosen or set to match the game world setting as closely as possible. The paper presents and discusses the fictional identities in Bulgarian larp culture and how the name of a chosen character or clan not only signifies but creates and frames their essence. The name is the starting point in the development of an individual or group fictional „life story“ and it is crucial in the process of building not only of imagined but also of those perceived as real identities in the social world of Bulgarian larp players.
