Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the tendency towards intense expansion of manipulation as a means for domination, control and exercising of power in contemporary developed societies, as well as the basic mechanisms for this expansion and its consequences. Possible opportunities for positive social change and the role of social sciences and citizenship are also discussed.
