Summary/Abstract: Vulnerabilities and risks in the pontic security system: The Expended Region of the Black Sea (REMN) displays a wide range of vulnerabilities and risks. At the economical level, the states from the region go through different stages of economical reorganization. Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey are allied in different proportions to the EU. The Russian Federation has an economy with strong nationalist and oligarchic components. Ukraine has not clarified its future economical project yet. Georgia and Armenia are relatively undeveloped from the economical point of view. The Russian Federation dominates the region from the economical point of view. Azerbaijan holds a top position in the hydrocarbon sphere. The region’s economy is marked by the “war of the power routes” between the Russian Federation and the West. The European Union is the most powerful from the region. At the social-political level, the systems are different. The processes of modernization are more alert in Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey, but the evolution of democracy is difficult in all the regions.
