Summary/Abstract: This paper is a try to get an insight into decades lasting dispute on the scientific status as well as educational values of pedagogigs. It may be thought that the current discourage on pedagogics in Poland reciprocates with sources, processes and essence of education in the axiologic, humanistic and postmodernist climate. The author emphasizes the fact that the both traditional and contemporary Polish pedagogics primarily focuses its effords on constant searching answers to the most rudimentary auestions concerning human being, his individual and collective goals, with high regard to kinds and prospects of education in the nowadays world. Any mature and reliable pedagigical theory and teleology of education ought to refer to versaile subsidiaries of its own cognitive and scientific identity outlined over many years of researches, and be opened to the latest civilisation achievements. The further part of the paper is devoted to chances and threats modern theories and educational practices imply; anxiety over faith in analytic abstraction, overstated individual emotionalism rejecting objective knowledge, wisdom and logic of proved educational processes. Finally, it gardly needs saying that any fragmentation of the anthroppological and educational issue loses rational, subjective, and overall sense of human being and education in the modern world.
