Summary/Abstract: A. Gieda reviewed Alfonsas Eidintas‘ monograph “History as Politics: the Review of the Development of Historical Events”, which was published in 2008. The reviewer emphasized that this monograph is important in two aspects. First, the issues of the Lithuanian historiography are presented as evidence to history science state during the Soviet and revival periods; secondly, they could be viewed as a proof of the appearance of separate topics (or their blocks) in the context of the freeing historiography. According to the author, history, similar to politics, presents the context of the clash between the Soviet and post-Soviet Lithuanian historiographic traditions and transformations which gives rise to the merging of lively memories with social narrative.
