Summary/Abstract: This study focuses upon the political and economic importance the Albanian coastal towns had in the XIV-XV centuries. They had a two-fold importance: from the point of view of the internal dynamics they refl ected the rivalry among the Arber nobility, but they became a contentious element in the struggle for supremacy between Venice and Naples. The advancement of the Ottoman armies in the Albanian inhabited lands was an additional infl uential element that pushed toward the creation and the breaking of numerous alliances between Scanderbeg, other Albanian nobles and foreign powers. The history of the Albanian coastal towns of that period shows the complex relations, and at the same time, the high Scanderbeg diplomatic profi le in view of his contacts with Venice Republic. The political-diplomatic relations that Scanderbeg held with Kingdom of Naples and Venice Republic, can be better understood if we know the interests that both sides had over these strategic points, such as the coastal Albanian towns of XIV-XV centuries.
