This book is the second volume of an edition published by Mandelbaum Press, whose aim is to provide a comprehensive historical picture of Jewish settlement in Lower Austria. The fourth volume of this edition was published earlier and deals with the tragic fate of the Jewish population in 1938–1945.1 The first volume of this edition, which focuses on the Medieval period and was prepared by Birgit Wiedl and Marta Keil, is due out this year. The remaining period of time from the issuance of the Tolerance Patent (1782) until the Anschluss will be discussed by the author of the fourth volume of this edition, Christoph Lind.
