Summary/Abstract: In October 2011 the European Commission published a new definition of CSR as well as its strategy for 2011–2014. According to the new definition, CSR is ”the responsibility of enterprises for their impact on society.” To fully meet the challenges of CSR, according to the European Commission, in any organization there should be the process of integrating social, environmental, ethical and human rights implemented into business operations and strategy while working with stakeholders. However, before the organizations can be responsible for their impact on society in general, they should demonstrate the responsibility for their own employees, through the principles of CSR policy in recruitment, employment, remuneration and promotion, and ought to ensure training and development as well as health and safety in the workplace. The purpose of this article is to determine how ensuring proper and safe working conditions affects the development of socially responsible organizations. In addition, the paper identifies good practices and benefits posed by taking initiatives in this area.
