The Cult to St John of Rila in the Seventeen-Century Bulgarian Manuscripts

Summary/Abstract: The article offers a review of hagiographic and hymnographic works dedicated to the saint in the seventeen-century Bulgarian manuscript tradition and studies the dissemination of the texts and their versions. The author identifies an unknown compilation of a service according to the Jerusalem Typikon and a new Kontakion for the feast of the Translation of the St. John’s relics back to Rila monastery.
