A Gloss Concerning Bulgarians in the Slavonic Version of Flavius Josephus' Jewish War

Summary/Abstract: The article concerns a gloss in Slavonic version of Flavius Josephus’ Jewish War (f. 403v). The former academic tradition considers the gloss to be included in main text on Slavic ground. Eventual paths of origin of this fragment are examined. Analysis of the context of similar glosses in Byzantine tradition and in Archivski Chronograph (a part of which is the translation of Jewish War) is made. The conclusion formulated is that the only possible context where such a gloss might appear could be that of Mediaeval Byzantine Chronicles.
