Identifying, understanding and analyzing such interdependencies are important in the context of the unprecedented development of national and regional critical infrastructures. This research also analyses the concept system-of-systems, the key relationships, dependencies and vulnerabilities within and between different sectors of critical infrastructure. There is additionally the need to understand the chains of influence that cross multiple sectors of national security and especially the occurrence causes of asymmetric risks.
