Summary/Abstract: The paper examines the specifics of factory women's work in Saint-Petersburg at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries. It consists in large-scale involvement and low prices of female labour. Factory workwomen prevail in textile industry in the capital. Female labour tends to expansion. Entrepreneurs preferred to employ women even to the men’s places as they were traditionally inactive in politics and received less salary.
