I WANT TO BE INDIVIDUAL(IST) AND THAT’S WHY I USE SLANG

Summary/Abstract: Slang is special language, which consists of informal words and expressions to describe an object or condition. Slang expressions are frequently particular to a certain subculture or members of small groups. There are a lot of types of slang. In this text we are interested in slang of teenagers, especially in their oral and spontaneous communication. We summarise knowledge of private communication of teenagers and compare our hypotheses with typical attributes of teen slang. We offer some examples of teenager’s slang words which reflect the social and cultural context as well as national and international context.
